  Emergency Prayer Request
My phone rang, just minutes ago, with this emergency prayer request from: Kevin Green, former member of Arcade. He was traveling to San Francisco to a hospital there to be a comfort to Chris & Wendy Vogt, over the medical situation that has risen in their son Chris Jr., during yesterday and last night. The Mom and Dad are both crying out for prayer on behalf of their son Chris Jr.. Please pray for God's mercy, grace and wisdom over this situation. The details of the problem are not clear. The grandparents, Ed & Joyce, and brother Jeff with Cindy, were all formerly members of Arcade and are asking for prayer. Kevin and Terry Green recently had nearly lost their daughter, Ciera-Joy, from a sudden medical condition. Kevin is at the hospital with his long-time friends Chris and Wendy. Please pray for them all. ~ Joe Walsh, 9:25 am, Monday, Sep. 25.

How to Look at Life ...
Pastor Rick Warren with wife Kay

You may have heard of Rick Warren, the author of "A Purpose Driven Life". Here's a wonderful peek into the way a Godly man thinks when he is blessed and/or in times of trouble.

People ask me, "What is the purpose of life?" And I respond: "In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven.

One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body-- but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity. This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal.

God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one.

The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort. God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy.

We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life. The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer.

I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life.

No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness, which is "My problem, my issues, my pain."

But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her. It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life. Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy. It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety
for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease.

So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72.

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases.

Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church.

Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation.

Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, "God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know You more and love You better." God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do. That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

THINK ABOUT THIS:
Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.
Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.
Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.
Painful moments, TRUST GOD.
Every moment, THANK GOD.

I apologize for it being so long. But for me it was necessary . . . and I suspect maybe for others as well. Lovingly, Joe Walsh

  LIFEgroups Begin SOON !
Please be praying about the LIFEgroups to be launched soon. We hope you will ALL become a part of a LIFEgroup. In each group we will be growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through the Word, Prayer and Fellowship. Here we will live out these important values of our life IN Christ.

Pray also that the congregation will become committed to the Gathering where we will be further built up in Christ. Here we will enjoy corporate worship and prayer and fellowing with one another in a multitude of ways.

And then pray for everyone to become committed to serving - inside and outside of Arcade. As the Church leaves the parking lot each week, pray their light will shine and the salt of each life will preserve our community with godly values and loving care for those outside of Chirst and His Kingdom.

Remember Pastor Jake's sermon from Sunday . . . September 17, 2006
Hebrews 3:12-15
1. God is a God of Comunity
o First Community: God, Jesus, Holy Spirit
o Second Community: God and Adam
o Third Community: God and Man
Example: Husband and wife are a Community ( Gen. 2:18-24 )

Case Study: Ephesians 1
o God Chose (you) 1:3-4
o Jesus Redeemed (you) 1:7-10
o Holy Spirit Sealed ( you ) 1:13-14

2. ALL Mankind Needs Community
We must life in community to fulfil God's Plans for Life, Church, and Relationships ( Jer. 29:11-13)

3. In Community Chirst Followers Exemplify Light
Heb. 3:12-15

To NOT live in Community is separation - and "separation is sin!"
Grow in Godliness -- Increase action.

Grow in relationship with Jesus as we live life together devoted to God's Word, Prayer, Fellowship and missions.

Key Phraise: Life life together

As the church in Acts these LIFEgroups will be devoted to:
1. The Word
2. Prayer
3. Fellowship
4. Witness - in mission

Dates to REMEMBER: October 1st & 8th LIFEgroup signups
October 15th: LIFEgroups begin!

Take the Pastor Jake's sermon points and turn them into prayers for the congregation.

"Father in Heaven, help us to love You in deep appreciation and faith. Thank you Lord that it is Your plan that we should live and walk in community with You and one another, even as you exist in unity with the Son and the Holy Spirit. Thank You for chosing, redeeming and sealing us for Your eternal Kingdom! We need You! And You want us! Thank you SO much for such love! Help us Lord to live in daily devotion to You in the Word of God, and talk with You throughout the day and share our life with those in Your Family at Arcade, and also with those who are not yet inside Your Eternal Family. Help us to BE Your "call-out-ones" wherever we are every moment of every day! In Jesus Name! Thank you LORD!"

Be a Generous Person ... Give Generously!
Let's pray for a continuing Spirit of generosity to flow in our congregation at Arcade. Make a Habit of Tithing and Giving Offerings. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed (Proverbs 11:25).

Note: This online Bible study is part of a series of studies on money and finances. More detailed information on these topics can be found in the book Putting Money in its Place. (Although written for married couples, the practical, scriptural information in this book also applies to single persons who want to handle their finances in a biblical manner.)

In the first study in this series, Acknowledge that God Owns Everything, we learn that it is God who owns "our" possessions. Once we grasp this fact, we look at our possessions and finances very differently.

In the second study in this series, See Yourself as God's Steward (or Assistant), we see that we are stewards, or managers, to whom God has entrusted a portion of his riches. You and I have the privilege—and responsibility—of taking care of his property and spending his money in ways that please him. Click here to learn much more . . . and grow in giving.

  Pastor Jake is BACK !
Pastor Jake is back! Today was a day of staff, prayer, sharing and a long list of considerations. Pray for Jake and the staff as they move forward toward other ministry decsions that will strengthen and equip the whole congregation.

This Saturday, September 16, Pastor Jake will be meeting with the Elder Board. There are many items to focus on. Please pray for us all . We need God's discernment and wisdom to know what The Senior Shepherd wants for His congregation. The Elder Board meets from 7 am until we finish. And it is suspected we will probably be there through the whole moring, and maybe more. Please pray for us during those hours. Thank you so much! ~ Bill Baker, Chairman, Elder Board.

The key to all missionary success is prayer
The key to all missionary success is prayer. That key is in the hands of the home churches. The trophies won by our Lord in heathen lands will be won by praying missionaries, not by professional workers in foreign lands.

More especially will this success be won by saintly praying in the churches at home. The home church on her knees, fasting and praying, is the great base of spiritual supplies, the sinews of war, and the pledge of victory in this dire and final conflict. E. M. Bounds

P.S.
If the above statement is true . . . then, let's include this in our "Life Groups"

  Governor Vetos Senate Bill 1437 - ( PTL )
Sacramento, CA – This morning Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger kept his promise and vetoed California Senate Bill (SB) 1437, a bill that showed great disrespect for the faith-based families of California . As written by Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica), SB 1437 would have restricted the First Amendment rights of all Californians by curbing discussion regarding principles and subject matter taught to children in public schools. Full Story at Dateline Sacramento - & "pray the news". Please pray for the Governor and the counselors around him . . . that godly wisdom would prevail for the blessing and benefit of all California.

A Praise & Prayer Report from India -
Thank you for your prayers- as Bobby says God is at work! we have been blest in so many ways, yesterday Dr Greg Frizzell preached one service at a church that has six (6!!!) Sunday services each with 4000 or so attendees- they have a baptistry below the main auditorium which has a line of people being dunked J one right after an another.

Their building is 30 feet from a main street- and the full property is approx, 100 feet wide and 1000 feet deep- the building is about 60 x 300 and the stage is on the 300 foot side, with a balcony wrapping 3 sides it extends 50% over the main floor-(I know this as we were on the platform for the service and when you can speak the language and are waiting to start you have to not stare) the point is they maximize the space and have a real system going to empty each service in 15 minutes.

They also have 100 pastors, 3000 cell churches- 2-300 people a day, praying 7 days a week, 24 hrs, 365! And the Pastor (who I heard in Tamil yesterday, and who came and preached today) started as a bare footed, non-english speaking poor servant, mentored by an American missionary (I also meet him and his wife yesterday- 41 years in India, 4 children with 3 of the 4 in missions, 1 in India, 1 in El Salvador and one off the field now, the fourth is a officer and involved in his church). Anyway, he has been persecuted, had his church burned down and still
trusted, and now pastors a body of 35,000! He is a powerful speaker yet as Bobby says, unselfish and Christ centered.

Next week Greg is preaching to a Church that is on 2 acres- or what I mean is a open air, non-walled 2 acre structure seating 21-23,000 at one time-! Hope I get to sit in the crowd!

Tonight Pastor Mohan (guy above) launched the first session of the HBI Indian National Evangelical Churches (INEC) the denomination of HBI- missions conference- there are pastors, students or missionaries from every state in India-and the surrounding countries (except Pakistan) approx 800-1000 expected.

They look so different, so Asian types, some tribals in saris with mirrors woven into their garments (I have pictures). Starting tomorrow I will be teaching 3 sessions to a group of 48 Telagu pastors or missionaries- they come from Andhra Pradesh, just north of this state. God is at work the INEC just planted over 3,200 churches and are planting more than 1 a day! And the Missions Director has challenged them to plant 5 churches and disciple 5 pastors, so that by 2020 they will have planted 10,000 churches.

Experts are saying, maybe only Korea is seeing a greater work of God- and that there maybe already 14% believers in India.

I guess you can tell I am excited, but it is midnight and I have to up by 6:30 to be ready!

THANK YOU and the whole team for praying- we, together will be blest by what God is doing, for we are co-laboring in this as one~

Love you guys-

God bless,
Bob Simmons
